Chapter 44: God Brings Me Home

The Friday before Christmas, I finally got the tags on Honey, my new Acura MDX.

I named him Honey. He was my new big battery operated boyfriend. He liked me in the drivers seat even more than my Chevy HHR did. He would take me everywhere I wanted to go and he would give me money every day, as long as I got in and drove him.

My brother got paroled out of prison, but for some reason they were not releasing him. When I inquired as to why, they told me he did not have a working "living situation". I asked what they meant by that, since I had prepared his property with a camper for him to live in. They said he could not live on that property because it was too close to the Baptist Orphanage, and he was a registered sex offender.

My dad's will stipulated that he had to live on the property, pay taxes on it, and couldn't sell it for ten years or the property will automatically revert to me.

My brother said he didn't know what to do other than sell the place. I reminded him that he was not allowed to do that for ten years. And why would he want to pay taxes on a property he could not live on?

In January of 2026, I went to talk to the lawyer. I was not going to let my brother get rid of the property. The lawyer said that I needed to get my brother to sign the deed over to me. If I could not do that, we would have to go in front of a hearing with the judge and get him to order it done. The will was clear, but it would cost me more for the hearing.

My brother was angry. He wanted out and now he had to wait until the state could find him transitional housing, and the waiting list for that was nearly a year. He wanted out now. He begged me to find him an apartment.

I told him there was no way for me to do that, because I would have to pay a $5000 fee before I could put my name on a lease, and I was not going to put my name on a lease for him to live there. My previous situation required a $5000 clean up fee when I left everything behind in the apartment I had to move out of. He said he wasn't signing anything if I couldn't help him.

I told him two could play that game. I hunkered down and prepared not to send him any more commissary. Up until then, I had been paying him 100 a week in commissary, which took out of what I already owed him.

He relented.

My lawyer sent him the paperwork.

Then, my brother got into a fight at the prison and his parol eligibility was pushed back 6 months. So, I had to wait until he could get out of restriction for him to get it notarized and sent back to me.

In the meanwhile, I moved back into the camper. Once I got the deed to the property, it was mine. The camper was already in my name. But, I owed my brother for it as well, since he paid for it. I added it onto the final total of what I owed him.

And, I went to work.

After going back to work full force doing Uber in my new car, I was making $50 to $75 more every day, because now I could do Uber XL, and Uber Comfort as well as Uber X. More opportunities were available to me.

God was blessing me!

And then, as if God hadn't blessed me enough, Uber started paying Gold through Diamond status drivers 5% more in pay for maintaining their status on the app. Another blessing.

Then, Uber started adding bonus pay for so many trips completed, which I easily got!

God was continually blessing me.

One day during February, I came home with the realization that I wasn't "homeless" any more. That God had blessed me with a home!

I went from living in a one bedroom apartment and no debt to being homeless with $35,000 worth of debt by the end of 2023, when God told me He wanted me to give up everything and follow Him, to tell my story He was about to give me. In 2024 I travelled and did that, living in my car. In 2025, God led me back home with business to take care of. He gave me a place to stay while I took care of my brother's needs while he was in prison. My debts were slowly getting paid off, and by the end of 2026, I knew that the only person I would owe would be my brother.

And, because I have been faithful and obedient, now I owned my own property. I had a nice car, and Uber was more lucrative.

I thought back to when everyone had told me to give up, to apply for bankruptcy, and to get another job or try to get disability. That wasn't what God was telling me to do. Thank God I didn't listen to them, even when they called me crazy!

God had blessed me. I couldn't give the credit to anyone but Him.
